 The health insurance graph has increased rapidly due to Corona epidemic in the country.  According to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA), 60 lakh corona virus health policies have been sold till September 2020.  According to the General Insurance Council, between April and August 2020, health policies worth Rs 22,903 crore were sold in the country, compared to Rs 20,250 crore of health insurance policies sold in the same period last year.

 According to IRDA, 24 companies related to life insurance and 33 companies related to general insurance are doing insurance business in the country.  The size of the insurance industry in India will increase to around $ 280 billion by the end of 2020.  Currently, the insurance sector's premium income contributes only 3.76 percent to the country's gross domestic product (GDP), while it is seven percent of the global GDP.  Therefore, there is potential for the insurance sector to grow in the country.  The life insurance sector is projected to grow at a rate of 14-15 percent in the next 3 to 5 years.  The growing middle class in the country, planning for family protection, increasing risks in industry and business, raising the FDI limit in the insurance sector and moving fast towards insurance villages are increasing the career opportunities in this sector.

 There are many opportunities in the insurance sector.  These relate to many areas including Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Project Management, Survey Work, Actuaries.  Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is the largest insurance company in the world, from becoming an agent in LIC to working in positions like Assistant Administrative Officer.  Surveyors do the job of evaluating losses in a business that is insured.  They are not independent employees of the company, but are independent businessmen.
